Digitalisation for Development in the air - CONCORD Bimonthly 6 November 2018
6 November 2018
Digitalisation for development is in the air
Digital innovation impacts, transforms and challenges development aid as it is today. New technologies question the status quo and bring a lot of opportunities and threats to our ways of working. It is a timely discussion, which needs to take place within and outside our sector. This is exactly why many organisations, institutions and other stakeholders get to grips with this topic. >From AidEx Brussels focusing on how digital innovation is impacting humanitarian aidto our recent report exploring the key trends of digitalisation for development or the worldwide movement of hackathons Hack the Goals from the Belgian Development Agency, all these recent initiatives explore the prism of transcending human limitations thanks to new technologies. In that matter, we wanted to bring the recent article in Alternatives Humanitaires to your attention "Putting humans first in humanitarianism during the digital era".
Enjoy!

The Global Hunger Index 2018 from Alliance2015 offers composite data and analysis on latest developments. This year's edition shows that while the world has made progress in reducing hunger since 2000, we still have a long way to go to meet the 2030 goal of Zero Hunger. Share the report via #GHI2018.

'Hack the Goals' was a series of seven hackathons organised by the Belgian development agency, Enabel. In Senegal, Niger, the Palestinian territory, Morocco, Uganda and Belgium, dozens of young people, digital experts, IT engineers, civil servants and development practitioners co-created innovative solutions for concrete challenges in development projects. To bring this initiative to a close, Enabel organises a knowledge sharing day on digitalisation on 16 November which will end with an Award Ceremony including a panel discussion, a reception and a concert! Don't miss this outstanding event!
